Our CEO Paul took a deep dive into the findings with ABC Southern Queensland Breakfast host David Iliffe, unpacking the alarming number of tenancies at risk of failing in the private rental market across Australia and New Zealand, making these households vulnerable to homelessness.
As Paul explains, the risk is clear and immediate. But our research also provides firm data highlighting that when we focus on enlivening the connection point between the real estate industry and the community sector, we can deliver an early-intervention pathway to sustain tenancies and prevent homelessness.
Our Queensland early intervention case study showcases how, by activating technology through our online referral portal, PM Assist, property managers are referring households experiencing challenges in their tenancies to existing community organisations already set up to deliver targeted support. When referred early via PM Assist, on average, 9 in 10 households sustain their tenancies and keep a roof over their heads.
