Today’s issue of Local Ipswich News highlights the serious impact of financial stress within our community. Prompted by the Financial Hardship Report 2025 (national) issued by The Salvation Army Australia, our CEO Paul, lends a local perspective to the issue.

Paul shares, “financial stress is evident in our early intervention responses, where our service supports people struggling to sustain their rental properties. In each scenario, the primary factor putting the tenancy at risk is rental arrears.

Now, households with one or two sources of income – who would once have had a stable tenancy – can find themselves in a precarious position due to the current cost of living. It’s a very real issue that can lead to homelessness.”

The Tenancy Skills Institute is proud to lead inCommunity Inc.’s early intervention response initiatives, working in tandem with our specialist housing and homelessness colleagues at inCommunity Connect, with a view to stablising at-risk tenancies and preventing homelessness.
