Seeking to test the idea: if property managers who recognise the early signs of a tenancy failing on their rent roll referred these tenants to targeted support, would this prevent the tenancy from failing?
In the context of the current competitive rental market, when a tenancy fails, the household becomes vulnerable to homelessness.
In May of this year, when a total of 294 tenancies had participated in this early intervention trial, we paused to check on 50 of those households who had received support 9-12 months prior. In each instance, the household’s property manager had identified their tenancy was at risk of failing and had referred them to our colleagues at InCommunity Connect for targeted support to sustain their tenancies.
We are proud to share that of those 50 households, 96% of these had either sustained their tenancies or had been able to move into a more suitable tenancy whilst retaining a good rental history.
An incredible outcome achieved so far. Vital in today’s competitive rental market, while also highlighting the positive impact early intervention can have on sustaining tenancies and preventing homelessness.
